March, 2010-----Flatland would like to welcome Jim Armstrong to the Band. Jim, who will be playing fiddle and also sings, recently moved back to the area from Kentucky. He will make his first appearance with FBB at the Night Owl Concert at the Cabin Fever Pickin' Party on Saturday, March 6th, at 11 PM. Jim played with Bluegrass bands in the Tidewater area in the past and you might remember him as the fiddle player for New Dominion a few years back. We'll give you more info on Jim in the upcoming weeks. FBB feels it's a privilege to have Jim join us and know he will be a welcome asset to the Band.
We are still looking for a banjo player and E. T. Firth is filling in for a while until we find one. We appreciate E.T. helping us out.
We’re now booking performances for 2010 and looking forward to a good new year with plenty of good ole Bluegrass music. So check back soon to keep up on what’s happening with FBB.
The Flatland Bluegrass Band is an exciting home-grown Virginia Bluegrass band. They are now one of the state's most popular Bluegrass bands. The Flatland Bluegrass Band's members are veteran musicians who have many years of on-stage musical experience. They have performed from the Blue Ridge Mountains to the Chesapeake Bay, and from Northern to Southern Virginia. Through the years they have been chosen to play many of the top Bluegrass Festivals in the area. The tight harmonies and high-energy instrumentals make this an excellent group to entertain all ages with their mix of traditional & contemporary Bluegrass music as well as Bluegrass Gospel Music. The current members are Randy Grigg, guitar and vocals; Karen Grigg, mandolin and vocals; Fred Staggs, bass; and Jim Armstrong, fiddle and vocals. We are in the process of finding a new banjo player. The band performs for private events as well as public functions. Through the years the Band has opened for a number of Nashville musicians and played at many Bluegrass festivals with some of the top national Bluegrass acts. They are right at home playing festivals, concerts, stage shows, private parties and other special events. Just E-Mail us for more information, availability and prices. And please sign our Guestbook to let us know who you are and how you liked our Website. There you can also let us know if you would like to be added to our E-Mail List reminding you of when and where we are playing our good ole Bluegrass Music.
